6-2 Blog: Marketing Perspective

After reviewing the transcript, I do realize that I follow quite a bit of influencers on social media.  One in particular I follow is Nick Rodriguez who is an influencer turned pro athlete.  He steadily posts on social media always including products or brands that sponsor him and his review of them in most of his post. With his 100+ thousand followers he seems to have a large following.

Some things I notice about this type of marketing is that the influencers seem to be very successful in what they do. Young people have made influencers more popular that some actors and entertainers. Influencers and companies paying them for their service realize that this is a fast and effect way to get the word out on a product and reach a large amount of people.

The strategies employed by influencers usually involve use of the product. Whether they are wearing, eating, using, or taking a supplement. The product is usually representing in the influencers video or picture.  They then offer a review or a recommendation of the product.

The role influencers play in marketing is almost like a bridge.  A bridge that connects a company with the general public.  Not everyone wants to hear how great a product is from the company making it but, if this is coming from a trusted source the influencer you follow and trust your opinion might be different.

The relationship between the company and the consumer I believe is almost hurt by this because when the influencer moves on to another brand the loyalty could be to the influencer and not the actual product.

Effectively Impacting the Consumer Through Digital Media Content

The Voice is a very popular television series that keeps the audience engaged with the show. Show watchers are able to use twitter to save their favorite singers if they are up for elimination. The show also puts out specific hashtags that watchers can use while tweeting about the show and then will display these tweets live during the show.  It was even the most tweeted series in 2015. The Voice episode on 12/8/15 garnered the most tweeted series minute of 2015 with 216,587 Tweets at 8:53 pm ET after people were tweeting their votes (Shortyawards).

I believe The Voice has done a great job overall as far as engaging in social media. There is not much I would change about the way they are doing things now and it seems to be working extremely well. Perhaps in the future they could allow fans to interact directly with contestants using social media. Although making contestants available to fans can have some negative interactions and that’s why I believe they have not gone that route yet.

After taking a look at The Voice’s current website, https://www.nbc.com/the-voice I like what they have done with it.  There are a lot of options and that can be overwhelming but, they offer fans access to past episodes, a look at the cast, and links to the contestant music directly. This allows fans to stay connected with their favorite artist from the show as well as use the app they have which lets you pretend to be the judge of the show as well as create a “fantasy” team of your favorites from the show

Hello Everyone!

In this blog I will be talking about different forms of digital media that I use every day and how it impacts me both positively and negatively.

While there are many forms of digital media available to everyone today, I will focus on the two I use most Instagram and Facebook.  I find I use Facebook mostly for news and staying connected with family and friends while I use Instagram most to see things that interest me and to express myself.

When it comes to negative and positive experience, I find most times when I have a negative response to digital media it is on Facebook. I find this mostly to happen because in my experience most people are more likely to post negative or sad news post them on Facebook. Which is fine but I do prefer Instagram as I generally will have a more positive experience and it gives everyone a platform to express themselves how they want to perceive which for most people would be positively.

I do not generally like to get my news and such from digital media so for me Instagram satisfies my needs more so than any other form of digital media. Instagram is just a better way for me personally to represent who I am the most effectively and I notice with others too they are able to put Their best selves out there for all to see along with other forms of art.

I do receive plenty of emails from companies I currently have 128,629 unread emails. Which I would say is a lot, but I rarely delete any. The types of emails that tend to grab my attention would be sales. I am a sucker for buying clothes and shoes so generally when I am getting emails from those types of companies, I check them out immediately to see if there is a sale I could capitalize on.

The thing I notice about digital media and marketing now are that generally I will now see ads on digital media based on my search history, things I post about, or pages I frequently like or visit. This tactic to me seems a little invasive but I must say I am definitely guilty of clicking on. Them and purchasing. So, I would say their digital media marketing works pretty well.
